Most often, the cause of a person’s death is obvious: an illness caused by an unhealthy lifestyle, an advanced age, or an unremarkable accident. We recently wrote about terrifying cases when people were buried alive. However, there are people whose deaths can be put on the list of “strangest deaths”. Some of them can be called funny and ridiculous, while others are unusually sinister. Here are 10 of the strangest and most ridiculous deaths:

Jerome Moody
Jerome Moody is a man who managed to drown at a lifeguard party. The party was organized to mark the end of the swimming season without drowning. There were 4 rescuers on duty at the party, and there were about 100 of them among the guests. It is hard to imagine how you can drown surrounded by hundreds of people trained to save lives. Jerome drowned in the deep part of the pool. His body was discovered while cleaning the pool. It is hard to imagine how long his body has been in water.

Fagilya Mukhametzyanova
Fagilya regained consciousness at her own funeral. She was lying in an open coffin, a farewell ceremony was taking place. However, at that moment, she suddenly woke up and started screaming. The guests were shocked by what was happening. The husband immediately took her to the hospital, but, unfortunately, after 12 minutes in the intensive care unit, the woman died. The husband was outraged by the work of doctors who announced the death of his wife and claimed that they could not save her.

Kenji Urada
Second death at the hands of a robot. It happened in 1981. A Kenji engineer was instructed to repair the failed robot at the Kawasaki Heavy Industries factory. However, he forgot to turn it off (some claim that he still turned off the robot, but there was some kind of technical malfunction and he turned on again). While Kenji was repairing the equipment, a robotic arm pushed him into the grinder. The accident occurred in July 1981, the company hid the details of the incident until December of that year.

Oscar Barbosa
A fisherman rushing into a piranha-infested river. The police concluded that it was a suicide. The man knew this river very well and had to understand that he could not get out of the water alive. Examination revealed that Oscar was drunk. It is believed that he took alcohol in order to reduce pain.

Ilda Vitor Masiel
The woman died at the age of 88 due to a ridiculous mistake in the hospital. The nurse made a fatal mistake: she accidentally introduced soup into a dropper, and not into a feeding tube. 12 hours after the injection, Ilda died. The hospital denied that the death was caused by a perfect mistake, and said they were investigating the incident.

Byford Dolphin
One of the worst deaths occurred at the Byford Dolphin rig. The man literally exploded. This was not the result of an external explosion or something like that; he simply fell victim to rapid decompression. Inside the compression chamber were 6 workers. Due to depressurization, the pressure from 9 atmospheres dropped to 1. Five divers died, the gases in the body of one of them expanded so much that it literally burst. His body was thrown out of the chamber through an opening with a diameter of 60 cm.

Clement Wallandigam
An Ohio politician led the Copperhead faction against the US Civil War. He also built a career in law as a lawyer. He defended a man who was accused of killing a man. However, Clement managed to build evidence of his client's innocence: he claimed that the victim shot himself, awkwardly taking out his gun. Clement discussed his theory with government officials, trying to demonstrate how a victim could shoot herself by pulling out a weapon. During the reconstruction, Vallandigam accidentally shot himself in the stomach. The accused was acquitted, Clement passed away the next morning.

John Sedgwick
John Sedgwick died at the very beginning of the Battle of Spotsilveyne May 9, 1864. Enemy snipers are located 900 meters from him. The shots forced all people to take their shelter. Sedgwick walked calmly and said: “Are you dodging single shots? What will you do when they open fire all along the line? ” People were ashamed, but they still trembled with each shot.
