In 2014, a large number of films were released on large cinema screens, not just deserving of viewing, but even requiring it. 10. Judge
Thriving lawyer Hank Palmer arrives in his hometown at his mother’s funeral. There he learns that his father, a city judge, is being held on suspicion of murder. Hank lingers in the city to find out the truth and protect his parent. He has to get to know his relatives better, with whom he has not had contacts for many years and to understand a complicated business.
9. Steven Hawking Universe
A biographical film about the famous astrophysicist Stephen Hawking. His relationship with his wife, his work, his illness and complete paralysis, for the most part thanks to which (even with a patented voice) Hawking is known even to people far from astrophysics. This film is the life story of a modern brilliant scientist, distinguished not only by his theories, but also by his stamina.
8. Hotel “Grand Budapest”
An adventurous comedy telling about the adventures of a hotel concierge about which real legends go takes the eighth place in our rating of the 10 best films of 2014. The concierge and his assistant are drawn into a situation related to the struggle for inheritance between members of a wealthy family and the theft of a Renaissance picture. Against the backdrop of the curious adventures of the heroes, the changes in Europe between the First and Second World Wars are also displayed.
7. Guardians of the Galaxy
Studio “Marvel” continues to film the beloved by many comics and create the best films. In the hands of space traveler Peter Quill, a mysterious artifact falls into the receipt of which the powerful villain Ronan is interested. Hiding from his minions, Quill finds himself in the company of space outcasts: the green-skinned Gamora, the raccoon Rocket, the tree-like creature of Groot and the aggressive Drax. The fate of the whole galaxy depends on the artifact located at Quill, and now the five outcasts need to unite and learn how to work in a team in order to save her.
6. Adolescence
A one-of-a-kind movie telling the story of a simple boy growing up. The uniqueness of the film lies in the fact that its shooting took 12 years, the main character grows literally in front of the viewer. Time passes, one president replaces another, many gadgets appear in circulation, and the boy, who is only going to the first grade at the beginning of the picture, is already entering college.
5. X-Men: Days of Future Past
Continuation of the famous series of films about mutants. The future is mired in destruction, mutants indulge in persecution, they are hunted, they are sent to similar concentration camps. Professor Charles Xavier, along with his X-Men and former enemy Magneto, decides to change the past so that the Guardians are not created: robots that can adapt to superpowers. In order to save the mutant world, they send Wolverine to the past. He will meet with the young Xavier and Magneto and stop the creation of the Sentinels Bolivar Trask.
4. The brink of the future
One of the best films of last year is “The Edge of the Future”. The plot of the film will be interesting to many fans of science fiction. In the future, a race of aliens invades the Earth, the attacks of which many earthly soldiers equipped with modern weapons fail to repel. Major Cage dies during the battle, but suddenly after death he falls into a temporary loop. The major goes through the events of the same battle again and again, each time dying and returning. Replaying events, Cage is selected to understand how to defeat an invincible alien enemy.
3. The Fool
The domestic motion picture released in 2014 opens the top three of our rating top 10 best films. A simple, unremarkable plumber late at night sets off to a call to the hostel. There, he marks a crack in the bearing wall and realizes that the building will not last long. The plumber is trying to get decisive action from the mayor and members of the city council, but is plunged into the abyss of corruption and political filth. The fate of the whole hostel and the people living in it depends on this ordinary plumber, who has enough of his own problems in life.
2. Disappeared
Nick Dunn is preparing to celebrate the fifth wedding anniversary with his charming and quick-witted wife. Every year she arranges a game for him: “treasure hunt”, hiding various related clues that should lead him to her. But when he arrives home, he discovers traces of the struggle and blood stains and realizes that his wife disappeared or was completely killed. For the police, he becomes the first suspect. Nick himself goes in search of his wife at her prompts, because only they can shed light on the disappearance.
1. Interstellar
By far the best movie of 2014 is Interstellar. A pre-apocalyptic future, the Earth is on the verge of dying, drought has brought humanity to a food crisis. A group of scientists is developing a space flight program to search for a new planet on which people would have a future. Former pilot Cooper leaves his family to embark on this mission into space to other planets through the opening “wormhole” along with a team of researchers.
