This film adaptation is a spin-off to the famous saga about Shrek, so the main character here is the same cat (well, you remember these eyes, right?). It is curious that the working title of the cartoon was “The History of the Ogre Slayer” - a very logical reference to the original scenario of the tale. However, in the end, the creators chose a louder sign and ... did not fail. After all, the cartoon paid off as much as 4 times, collecting half a billion dollars in world cash.
9. The Cat Thunder and the bewitched house (2013)
It turns out that Belgium is famous not only for chocolate, beer and waffles - they also know how to make animation. After all, it was in this country that the cartoon “Cat Thunder and the Enchanted House” appeared, which is rightfully on our list. Despite the fact that the picture did not bring profit, its plot looks very moving. Once in a thunderstorm, a kitten thrown by the owners gets into the house where, as it turned out, the magician lives. The owner instantly fell in love with Thunder, which was not shared by the rest of the household. Nevertheless, when disaster strikes the owner of the house, the animals unite to protect the home of their master, in which they themselves live.
8. Cat Trap (1986)
Older readers may recall how this cartoon was popular in the USSR at sunset of the 80s. Animators immediately from 3 countries (Hungary, Canada and Germany) participated in the production of the painting. The action of the cartoon takes place on a fictional planet, which is inhabited by anthropomorphic cats, mice and rats. Rodents are subjected to severe pressure and domination by cats, as a result of which they are forced to take retaliatory measures. In particular, mice create a drawing of a special cat trap. Its essence is that a huge robot in the form of a bulldog swallows a cat, and at the end it turns out a good fluffy kitty, ready to be friends with all the inhabitants of the planet.
7. Garfield (2004)
Garfield, in turn, was a favorite of children in the early 2000s. And maybe not only children. Anyway, everyone remembers the lazy red fat man who loves lasagna. Garfield loves not only a delicious meal, but also the whole heart to mock his master, playing pranks at every turn. The latter, by the way, not only does not have a soul in a cat, but also uses it as an occasion to visit a veterinary clinic, where a girl named Liz works, with whom the owner of Garfield is deeply in love. As for Garfield as a cartoon, critics in the press unanimously considered the picture a failure. You can not say about the world box office, in which the story of a fat cat paid off as much as 4 times.
6. The True Story of Puss in Boots (2009)
Another interpretation of “Puss in Boots” right in the middle of our rating. This time, the French version of 2009. The cartoon tells us the story of the miller’s youngest son, who inherited as much as a cat. But if everything was so simple ... Due to the manifestation of these qualities, the cat helps its owner not only achieve high social status, but also get the princess herself as a wife!
5. Scarecrow-Meacho (1982)
The expression "Scarecrow-Meowal", which has long become winged, comes from the Soviet cartoon of the same name. It was with these words that each of the people busy with their petty problems was bewitching a black kitten, who so wanted to share his wonderful mood with everyone through a fun song. As a result, the offended kitten climbed onto the roof, where it began to hum already a sad melody. The situation saved the girl, who asked the cat once again to sing a positive song. As soon as the furry hero opened his mouth, as soon as all the heroes affairs were settled, and the city was flooded with bright sun. People became kinder, and no one else called the kitten an insulting word.
4. Aristocratic cats (1970)
From the USSR we are going to visit Walt Disney, at whose studio in 1970 they created a cartoon called “Aristocats” or “Aristocratic Cats”. The action of the picture takes us to France in the 1910s. A cat named Duchess lives in a luxurious mansion. She has kittens that rightly claim elite apartments by inheritance. However, the butler intervenes - he abducts the kittens, wanting to get the house in his hands. In the course of history, aristocratic cats intersect with homeless people who are willing to help them. 3. Puss in Boots (1995)
"Shaw, again?" Now we got to the plasticine version of "Puss in Boots" from the Russian animator Harry Bardin. Charles Perrault could hardly have imagined that his fairytale would be filmed once in this form. What do you think saw the meaning of the work of Bardin? In patriotism. Thus, the cat here is a conductor of the bumpkin-bumpkin in the bright American life. However, the whole thing is stopped in France, where our peasant, having met with the royal family, was arrogant and turned away from his assistant. As a result, the cat applied magic, and the guy was again in his native village. It is ambiguous of course, but such a view of a fairy tale also has a place to be.
2. A cat that walked on its own (1968)
This cartoon is the first Soviet film adaptation of Kipling's famous work “The Cat Who Walked Where He Wanted” (the second will be removed in 20 years, and the cat will be the heroine there). A cartoon picture with elements of philosophy tells us about ancient times when a woman domesticated a man, and after him some animals. Only the cat did not get a place in the cave, but the woman set him the conditions under which he could cohabit with people. As a result, the cat fulfills them, however, it falls out of favor with the man (with whom there was a separate agreement). In the end, sitting on a tree, the cat argues that the woman is still not as smart as it seems at first glance.
1. Cat Fisher (1964)
Well, our rating is crowned by an old Soviet cartoon, in which the legendary voices of Evgeny Leonov, Anatoly Papanov, Erast Garin and Olga Aroseva are engaged, and Yuri Levitan manages the musical accompaniment. As for the plot, it is straightforward. The cat decided to go fishing, promising a fox, a wolf and a bear without fail to share the catch with them. However, the forest inhabitants so noisily anticipated a fish meal that the poor cat could not catch from the river and small crucian carp. As a result, lovers of freebies almost got into a fight, while the cat slipped away in search of a quieter place for all this hype.
